This thin touchscreen control panel sports a full colored 7-inch display. You can completely control your Guardian Protection security system right from the touchscreen control panel. It is a wireless and cellular system which means it works by transmitting your security data through a cellular chip. The Guardian IQ2 Panel has PowerG encryption which adds an extra layer of security when it is transmitting your data. It is powered by an AC power source, but it does include a backup battery just in case your power goes out. The Guardian IQ2 Panel includes a 5 mega-pixel front facing camera that can take snap shots of when your system is being armed and disarmed. The Guardian IQ 2 panel includes Bluetooth disarming which means it will recognize when you are coming and leaving your home, and trigger your system accordingly. The Guardian IQ2 panel really stands out due to its built-in glass break sensor that will trigger your Guardian Protection security system when the sound of break glass is detected. Anytime your Guardian Protection system or devices are trigger the Guardian IQ2 Panel will sound its internal 110-decibel siren. The Guardian IQ2 Panel also includes a Z-Wave protocol that will allow you to expand it so that you can use home automation devices with it.

Scout Alarm Control Panel
Scout Alarm offers a high-quality control panel that connects all of your security equipment and other devices wirelessly. Their control panel is called the Scout Hub, and it works by connecting to your home’s WIFI network but also includes a cellular backup just in case your internet goes down. The Scout Hub doesn’t have any features that can be controlled directly from the control panel, instead you will use their app, separate keypad, or key fob to arm and disarm your system. You can also use a RFID tag to quickly arm and disarm your system. The Scout Hub includes an internal 105-decibel alarm that can be easily heard no matter where you are in your home. Their control panel is powered through an AC power source, and it does include a built-in backup battery just in case your power goes out. The Scout Hub is very expandable and has lots of zones. The control panel will tell you exactly which zone (sensor) has been triggered which will give you a better idea of where and what is exactly happening in your home. The control panel also includes Z-wave technology which will allow you to expand your system to include the use of some smart home devices.

Who wins?
Guardian’s and Scout’s control panels are quite different from one another. Guardian’s control panel comes in two parts making it harder to damage during a home invasion, plus its the Qolsys IQ Panel 2. Scout’s control panel is somewhat bare bones, and comes without a touchscreen. Because Guardian offers a more modern control panel, we are giving them the win for this category. Guardian Equipment
Guardian Protection offers all of the basic equipment you could ever need to keep your home totally protected. They offered wireless and battery-operated sensors that have a long battery life. To keep the inside of your home safe Guardian Protection offers door/window, motion, and glass break sensors. All of these sensors are tamper-proof so you don’t have to worry about someone disabling them. They also offer a variety of external sirens including one that has a strobe light so you will be sure to hear when your Guardian Protection’s security system has been triggered. To quickly arm and disarm your system, Guardian protection offers a battery-operated key fob that has a built-in panic button. To keep your home safe from environmental dangers Guardian Protection offers smoke/heat and CO sensors. These sensors have audible alerts that will be triggered if dangerous rises in environmental factors such as heat, smoke, and CO gas are detected. Guardian Protection will send out one of their certified security technicians so you don’t have to worry about setting up the equipment yourself.

Home Automation
Guardian Protection’s Guardian IQ Panel is more than just a security hub, due to its Z-Wave protocol you can use a variety of other branded smart home devices with it. You can purchase some of the smart home automation equipment directly through Guardian Protection. Guardian Protection offers Kwikset smart locks that have an illuminated push-button keypad that you can create custom user codes. You will also be able to control on these locks while go including remotely locking and unlocking. If your home has garage doors you can remotely open and close them using the Linear Garage Door controller that is offered by Guardian Protection. You will also receive push notification anytime your garage doors have been opened or shut. To make your home greener, Guardian Protection offers Alarm.com smart thermostats. These thermostats work for the majority of HVAC heating and cooling systems. You will be able to remotely control your home’s temperature on the go through your Alarm.com Smart Thermostat. This is all the home automation that Guardian Protection is showing via their website, and you would need to call them for a more complete list.
Video Monitoring/Cameras
To provide your home with some video surveillance protection, Guardian Protection offers an indoor, outdoor, and a video doorbell camera. Their cameras are wireless and work by connecting to your home’s WIFI. Guardian Protection’s video cams can capture high quality video clips, have night vision technology, and 2-way audio. Guardian uses Alarm.com for video monitoring. This is the exact same monitoring provider that we use at Link Interactive.
Scout Alarm Equipment
Scout Alarm offers a nice variety of basic equipment that you can use with their control panel. Scout Alarm offers a Door Panel which is a pretty different type of intrusion sensor compared to other intrusion sensors that are out on the market today. The Scout Alarm’s Door Panel is a larger sensor meant to be placed on the outside of an entryway door. This sensor will alert you to anytime it has been opened and closed. This sensor can also be used to quickly arm and disarm your system tapping a RFID sticker to the Door Panel or using a Scout’s key fob. These stickers can be placed on anything that is easy to move around. When you tap these stickers on your control panel or Door Panel, they will automatically arm or disarm your system. The Door Panel also includes a 105-decibel alarm built in.
The next basic sensor that is offered by Scout is their Access Sensor. These sensors are used to protect the door and windows of your home. They are battery-operated and will alert you to anytime a door or window has been opened. Scout also offers motion sensors that a wireless and battery operated. Scout’s motion sensors use PIR technology to detect motion and have a 90-degree field of view. Scout Alarm offers glass break sensors that are wireless and battery operated. Scout Alarm’s glass break sensors are used to detect the sound of glass breaking within a 15 ft. range of the sensor. Scout Alarm offers key fobs remotes for that are batter operated and have a push button design. Their key fob remotes allow you to quickly arm and disarm your system with the touch of a button.
Scout Alarm offers Smoke, CO, and Flood sensors to help protect your home from environmental disasters. These sensors are battery operated and wireless, and they will make an audible alert anytime they are triggered. These sensors along with Scout Alarm’s other sensor will all trigger your system to cause an event anytime they are triggered. All equipment that is sold to you by Scout Alarm is DIY (Do it yourself), but everything is included for a quick installation.
Home Automation
Scout Alarm has a limited variety of what they actually offer on their website for add-on equipment so it is important to keep in mind that Scout’s control panel has Z-Wave technology which means you can use other branded home automation and security products that are not offered on the Scout Alarm’s website. They do offer Yale Automated Door Locks. The Yale automated door lock offered by Scout has an illuminated touch pin pad that allows you to create custom user codes. It is battery operated and allows for quick one-touch locking and unlocking of this lock. The Yale automated door lock offered by Scout Alarm can be unlocked and locked on the go, and any user codes for it can be enabled or disabled at any time. Scout Alarm also offers an indoor camera as a part of their add-on equipment.
Video Monitoring/Cameras
When it comes to video surveillance equipment Scout Alarm offers an indoor camera and video doorbell camera that work by connecting to your home’s WIFI network. Scout Alarm’s indoor camera is powered through an AC power source, but they do not state how their doorbell camera is powered. Their indoor and video doorbells camera record in full 1080P which lets you capture crystal clear video clips. Their indoor camera has a 155-degree field of view while their doorbell camera has 180-degree field of view. They both come with night vision built-in so that you can view video even when there is limited or no light around the camera. The Scout indoor and video doorbell cameras have built-in motion detectors that will trigger the cameras to start recording whenever motion is detected near them.
Who wins?
Guardian Protection and Scout Alarm have a lot in common when it comes to their basic equipment. They both offered wireless and battery-operated interior sensors. They both offer life safety devices that are also wireless and battery-operated. However, Guardian does have a bit more variety of basic equipment for you to choose from. We are giving Guardian the win for this category due to the fact that they have a bigger selection of basic equipment for you to choose from.
There is a pretty big difference between what Guardian has to offer in add-on equipment and what Scout Alarm has to offer. Scout doesn’t offer any home automation equipment, but the cameras that they offer are superb and packed full of features. Guardian has a ton of home automation equipment for you to choose from which really lets you personalize your security system to do more than just protect your home. Because Scout doesn’t offer home automation equipment, we are giving Guardian the win for this category.

Guardian vs Scout Alarm App
Guardian and Scout offer professional, self, and video monitoring services. Scout also offers a medical monitoring service which is something Guardian doesn’t offer. Guardian’s and Scout’s self-monitoring services are done through their apps. Their apps are free to download and work for Apple and Android devices. With their apps you can stream live and recorded video from any connected video surveillance camera, receive push notifications for events, arm and disarm your system remotely, and customize certain features for your connected devices. Scout’s app however doesn’t have as many features as Guardian’s app. The Guardian app is powered by Alarm.com which means you will have ton more features to use with your system and equipment like Geo-fencing technology. Guardian’s and Scout’s professional monitoring services work the same, where you have a 24/7 professional monitoring service watching over your home.
