The touchscreen will also display your local time and temperature. This control includes a 5 MP front facing camera that can take snapshots of when your system is being armed and disarmed. You can store your pictures on an SD card due to Protect America’s control panel including a Micro SD slot. It has a built-in glass break sensor and motion sensors. Its glass break sensor will listen for the sound of breaking glass while its motion sensors will look for motion around it. If your system or any connected devices are triggered, Protect America’s control panel will sound its internal siren. Protect America’s control panel is super expandable and it includes a Z-Wave protocol that lets you use lots of great home automation devices with it. One really cool feature of Protect America’s control panel is its Bluetooth arming and disarming which is a feature that will automatically arm and disarm your system when you leave or return home.

Guardian Protection offers their Guardian IQ2 Panel which is a touchscreen control panel that has a ton of features. It has a thin design making it very easy to place, and it looks good in any style of home. This touchscreen control panel sports a full colored 7-inch display. You can completely control your Guardian Protection security system and any connected devices right from the touchscreen control panel. It is a wireless and cellular system which means it works by transmitting your system’s data through a cellular chip. The Guardian IQ2 Panel uses PowerG encryption which adds an extra layer of security when it is transmitting your data. It is powered by an AC power source, but it does include a backup battery just in case your power goes out. The Guardian IQ2 Panel includes a 5 MP front facing camera that can take snapshots of when your system is being armed and disarmed. The Guardian IQ2 panel includes Bluetooth disarming which means it will recognize when you are coming and leaving your home, and trigger your system accordingly. The Guardian IQ2 panel really stands out due to its built-in glass break sensor that will trigger your Guardian Protection security system when the sound of break glass is detected. Anytime your Guardian Protection system or devices are triggered the Guardian IQ2 Panel will sound its internal 110-decibel siren. The Guardian IQ2 Panel also includes a Z-Wave protocol that will allow you to expand it so that you can use home automation devices with it.

There isn’t that big of a difference in what Protect America has to offer with control panels and what Guardian Protection has to offer with control panels. For starters, Guardian protection offers 2 control panels for you to choose from that are full colored touchscreen control panels. Both of Guardian Protection’s control panels are packed with features that are easily accessed right from the home screen. Protect America offers 2 control panels as well, but Guardian’s control panel is controlled via the Alarm.com app. Therefore for this category, we are choosing Guardian Protection as our winner due to their control panels being monitored by Alarm.com.
Protect America offers wireless and battery-operated intrusion and environmental safety sensors. To protect the interior of your home, Protect America offers different styles of door/window sensors, a motion sensor, and a glass break sensor. To keep your home safe from environmental dangers, Protect America offers smoke/heat, CO, and water leak sensors. These environmental sensors will make audible alerts if their designed environmental factor is detected while triggering your system. Protect America also offers extra keypads, key remotes, sirens, etc. All equipment offered by Protect America is DIY (do it yourself), but they walk through the setup process for a fast and easy installation.

Home Automation
Protect America has a really nice selection of add-on equipment that you can use with their system. Protect America offers several different brands of smart locks for you to choose from. The basic functions of the different smart locks are the same in where you can create custom user codes that can be enabled and disabled at any time. You can also unlock any smart lock purchased through Protect America through their app as well as receive push notifications for when your smart locks have been locked and unlocked. If your home has garage doors, Protect America offers the Linear Garage Door Controller. This controller will allow you to remotely shut and open your garage doors, and you will get alerts for when your garage door has been opened or shut. Protect America has several smart home devices to make your home greener. They offer a few types of smart thermostats, a smart outlet, and light switch control. These devices can be controlled remotely through the Protect America app, and you can set custom timers for when they come on and go off. Smart thermostats, in particular, are really great at cutting down on your homes energy consumption per month which can save you money.
Cameras
Protect America also has a nice selection of video surveillance cameras you can use with their system as well. They offer an indoor, outdoor, and video doorbell camera. These cameras include night vision, 2-way audio, motion sensors, and the ability to record video in HD. Protect America’s video surveillance cameras work by connecting wirelessly to your home’s WIFI network.

Guardian Protection has a huge selection of basic intrusion and environmental safety equipment you can use with their Guardian IQ2 panel. They offer wireless and battery-operated that are tamper proof. To keep the inside of your home safe, Guardian Protection offers door/window, motion, and glass break sensors. All of these sensors have a long battery life so you don’t have to worry about changing out their batteries for a long time. They offer a variety of external sirens including one that has a strobe light so you will be sure to hear when your Guardian Protection’s security system has been triggered. To quickly arm and disarm your system, Guardian protection offers a battery-operated key fob that has a built-in panic button. To keep your home safe from environmental dangers Guardian Protection offers smoke/heat and CO2 sensors. These sensors have audible alerts that will be triggered if dangerous rises in environmental factors such as heat, smoke, and CO2 gas are detected. Guardian Protection offers professional installation of their equipment so they will send out one of their certified security technicians so that you don’t have to worry about setting up the equipment yourself.

Home Automation
Guardian Protection’s Guardian IQ Panel is super expandable and you can use several different branded home automation devices with your panel. You can purchase some smart home automation equipment directly through Guardian Protection, but you can also purchase home equipment elsewhere. We do suggest if you are going to purchase home automation equipment elsewhere that you check with Guardian Protection to make sure that it is compatible. Guardian Protection offers Kwikset smart locks that have an illuminated push-button keypad that you can create custom user codes. You will also be able to control these locks while on go including remotely locking and unlocking your Kwikset smart lock. If your home has garage doors you can remotely open and close them using the Linear Garage Door controller that is offered by Guardian Protection. You will also receive push notification anytime your garage doors have been opened or shut. To make your home greener, Guardian Protection offers Alarm.com smart thermostats. These thermostats work for the majority of HVAC heating and cooling systems. You will be able to remotely control your home’s temperature on the go through your Alarm.com Smart Thermostat.
Cameras
To provide your home with video surveillance protection, Guardian Protection offers an indoor, outdoor, and a video doorbell camera. Their cameras are wireless and work by connecting to your home’s WIFI network. Guardian Protection’s video cameras can capture high quality video clips, have night vision technology, and 2-way audio.

Protect America and Guardian have similar types of basic equipment. Just like most other major security companies, they offer wireless and battery-operated intrusion and environmental safety sensors. Also, both companies’ equipment is DIY which is another common trend with a lot of major security companies. However, Protect America has a much larger selection of basic equipment than that of Guardian, and for this reason we are choosing Protect America as our winner for this category as well.

Guardian Protection has a nicer touchscreen, more basic equipment, and more home automation equipment than that of Protect America. Not to mention that Guardian’s self-monitoring services offer a lot of great features that Protect America’s app doesn’t offer.
