Today we will be comparing home security providers SimpliSafe and Guardian Protection, and see how they stack up! We’ll go over equipment, monitoring plans, and more!
There are plenty of reasons for you to be outside of your home with your friends and family, which could leave your home vulnerable to home invasions. The best way to keep your home safe while you out enjoying your time with your family and freinds is to invest in a home security system. Today we will be looking at and comparing what SimpliSafe and Guardian Protection have to offer.
When it comes to control panels, SimpliSafe offers a completely wireless and cellular control panel that is easy to use. The SimpliSafe control panel is shaped like a cone, and has an LED indicator light at its base that will change colors to show different system statuses. Even though the SimpliSafe control panel is cellular, it can connect to your home’s WIFI so that you have double the connection. It is powered by an AC power source, and it includes a 24-hour backup battery. To control the functions of your SimpliSafe control panel, you will need to use its separate battery-operated push-button remote. The push-button remote allows you to control and customize your SimpliSafe control panel, devices, and system features. If for some reason your SimpliSafe system is triggered, the control panel will sound its internal siren. You can also customize different chime alerts for different devices. The SimpliSafe control panel is a bit limited on how much you can expand it, and you will only be able to use SimpliSafe branded equipment with it.

You can completely control your Guardian Protection security system and any connected devices right from the touchscreen control panel. It is a wireless and cellular system which means it works by transmitting your system’s data through a cellular chip. The Guardian IQ2 Panel uses PowerG encryption which adds an extra layer of security when it is transmitting your data. It is powered by an AC power source, but it does include a backup battery just in case your power goes out. The Guardian IQ2 Panel includes a 5mp front facing camera that can take snapshots of when your system is being armed and disarmed. SimpliSafe’s control is easy to use, but Guardian Protection’s IQ2 Panel has a lot more features. They may both be wireless and cellular systems, but SimpliSafe control panel caters more towards people looking for a simple to use control without a lot of bells and whistles. However, Guardian Protection offers a Z-wave protocol in their IQ2 Panel which allows you to really expand your system, and it doesn’t limit you to use the same branded equipment like SimpliSafe’s control panel does. Seeing that Guardian Protection offers the more premium control panel, we are choosing them as our winner for this category.

This is a category where we see more similarities between the equipment offered by SimpliSafe and the equipment offered by Guardian Protection. They both offer wireless and battery-operated intrusion and environmental safety sensors. They also both offer professional installation of their equipment with SimpliSafe also giving you the option to setup the equipment yourself. However, we do like the quality and selection of basic equipment products that Guardian Protection offers, and for these reasons we are choosing them as our winners for this category.
There is a big difference with the selection that SimpliSafe has to offer you, and what Guardian Protection has to offer you. SimpliSafe only offers one home automation product that you can currently use with their system. Guardian Protection has a huge selection of home automation equipment you can use with their Guardian IQ2 Panel. Because Guardian Protection offers a larger selection of add-on equipment than SimpliSafe, we are choosing them as our winners.
To keep an eye on either your SimpliSafe or Guardian Protection system, they offer professional, self, and video monitoring services. Their self-monitoring services are done through their apps which are free to download, and they will work for Apple, PC, and Android devices. Their apps allow you to control your system, home automation devices, and video cameras on the go. You can stream live and recorded video, disarm and arm your system, customize system features, add devices, and receive push notifications for events all through theirs apps. However, Guardian Protection apps has a bit more features in the home automation side of their app that allows you to really convert your home into a smart home. Their professional monitoring services work the same in where you have a 24/7 professional monitoring station watching over your home for emergencies. SimpliSafe however, doesn’t offer contracts, and their month to month monitoring fees are much lower than that of Guardian Protection. The downfall is without a contract you will need to pay for all your equipment upfront with SimpliSafe while Guardian Protection will offer a discount with their contracts. The last fact that we think is important for our readers to know is that Guardian Protection isn’t offered everywhere in the USA while SimpliSafe is.
