Ring’s control panel work’s by connecting to your home’s WIFI network, but it does include a cellular chip as an optional way for you to connect your Ring control panel. Ring now offers their second-generation control panel which is small, compact, and has a square shaped design. Their control panel includes an LED indicator light that will change colors to show different system statutes. The Ring control panel is controlled through a separate push-button keypad or through the Ring app. The Ring control panel includes a 24-hour backup up battery, and so does the keypad. It has a built in Z-Wave protocol which means you can expand it to include other branded home automation devices such as smart locks. The Ring control panel has different chime alerts for different security devices that will alert you when these devices have been triggered. If your Ring security system or devices detect an event, the Ring control panel will sound its built-in internal siren.

CPI Security Control Panel

CPI Security a thin full colored touchscreen control panel as their main component for their security system. Their fully colored touchscreen is called the InTouch Smart Hub. The InTouch Smart Hub has a 7-inch HD full colored touchscreen that allows you to control your system and any connected devices right from the touchscreen. It is a cellular system but it does include a second connection for you to connect to your home’s WIFI as a backup. It is powered by an AC power source, and it includes a backup battery just in case your power goes out. This control panel is super expandable and includes a Z-wave protocol that allows you to use other branded security and home automation devices. You can use up to 119 devices with your InTouch Smart Hub, and create up to 242 custom user codes. The InTouch Smart Hub has a built-in 5MP front facing camera that can be set to take snapshots of when your system is armed and disarmed. It includes a 2-way audio features and different chimes for events. It has a Micro SD slot that allows you to use a Micro SD card for extra storage. If your system is triggered your InTouch Smart Hub will sound its built-in internal siren.

Who wins?

CPI and Ring both offer easy to use control panels. They both have cellular chips, and can connect to your home’s WIFI network. They include backup batteries, and work by being plugged directly into an AC power source. However, CPI’s control panel is more modern, and its touchscreen makes it very easy to use. It also has more built-features than CPI’s control panel, and for these reasons we are choosing CPI as our winners for this category.

Ring Alarm Equipment

Ring offers high-quality and well-made intrusion and environmental safety sensors. To keep the doors and windows of your home protected, Ring offers wireless and battery-operated door/window sensors. Ring also offers wireless and battery-operated motion sensors that are great at detecting motion in large areas in your home. Ring offers secondary keypads you can add to your Ring security system. Their keypads have an illuminated push-button keypad and include a rechargeable battery. They also offer a battery-operated external siren that will trigger when your Ring security system triggers. Ring offers a wireless and battery-operated smoke/CO sensor and a freeze/flood sensor to keep your home safe from the elements. Both these sensors will make an audible alert if rises in smoke, CO gas, rises/drops in temperature, and floods/ leak occur. Ring has partnered with a lot of top-rated companies which is reflected in their selection of add-on equipment. Ring offers a ton of home automation and video surveillance equipment for you to choose from. Today we will only be going over some of these, and if you are looking for a more complete list you can visit the Ring website. Ring offers several different brands of smart locks including Schlage. These locks have a push-button keypad, can be remotely controlled, and you can create custom user codes that can be enabled and disabled at any time. You can also use a variety of smart bulbs, smart switches, and light controls you can choose from including brands like Philips HUE and GE. These particular types of devices are great at cutting down your home’s energy, and can be controlled on the go.

Video Monitoring/Cameras

When it comes to video surveillance equipment, Ring has two video cams for you to choose from. They offer indoor, outdoor, video doorbell, and flood light cameras. Their video surveillance cameras are powered by an AC power source, or a rechargeable battery. Their cameras work by connecting directly to your home’s WIFI network. You will need to check which camera you are interested in specific specifications but generally most Ring cameras include 2-way audio, night vision, custom motion zones, motion sensors, and the ability to capture video in either 720P or 1080P.

The particular lock that they offer has a touch keypad that is illuminated. This smart lock allows you to create custom user codes, allows for one-touch locking, and it can be remotely controlled through the CPI Security app. To make your home greener, CPI Security offers a smart thermostat and a light control. Their smart thermostat has energy saving features that will cut down on your home’s energy consumption per month, and it works for most HVAC heating and cooling systems. You can set custom timers for when your heating and cooling system turns on/off, and it can also be remotely controlled. CPI Security’s light control allows you to connect a light fixture or small appliance to it. You can set custom timers for when it turns on and off, and it can be remotely controlled. If your home has garage doors, you can purchase a garage door controller through CPI security that allows you to remotely control the garage doors of your home. You will also get instant alerts sent to your smart phone anytime your garage doors have been opened or shut.

Monitoring/Cameras

CPI Security also has a really nice selection of video cameras that you can use with their system. CPI and Ring offer a lot of the same similar types of basic equipment. Their intrusion and environmental safety sensors are wireless and battery-operated. Their basic equipment also has similar designs to one another. CPI does have a slightly larger selection of basic equipment than that of Ring. CPI and Ring offer really great and affordable security solutions. We really love Ring’s selection of video cameras, and their control panel is easy to use. Ring’s month to month monitoring services are also much cheaper than the average month to month cost compared to other security companies.
