Who wins?

Guardian Protection and Nest Secure both have a really nice selection of basic equipment for you to choose from. We really like that Guardian offers a flood sensor which can be really valuable to home owners due to the amount of damage a flood can cause. We also like that Guardian Protection’s strobe external siren. Because Guardian Protection has a bit larger selection of basic equipment than that of Nest, we are giving them the win for this category.

Guardian Protection also offers a nice selection of add-on equipment for you to choose from so that you can really expand your system. We really like the fact that they allows to purchase a lot of other branded home automation equipment directly through them. We really love the fact that Guardian Protection uses Alarm.com thermostats due to all the features it includes. This was a harder category for us to call, but are going to give the win to Guardian Protection due to them offering Alarm.com thermostats.

Guardian Protection vs Nest Secure App

Guardian Protection and Nest Secure both offer self, professional, and video monitoring services. Their self-monitoring services are done through their apps which are free to download and work for Windows, Apple, and Android devices. Guardian’s self-monitoring app is powered through Alarm.com which means you will have a ton of more features you can use with your equipment and system. Nest uses their own native app, which we feel is limited and doesn’t come with all the bells and whistles of an Alarm.com powered app. You can customize all devices connected to your system, stream live and recorded video, get push notifications for events, remotely arm and disarm your system plus much much more all through the app while on the go. Alarm.com also allows for Geo-fencing service which is a feature that will automatically turn on/off your system, devices, cameras, etc. when leaving and entering the house. Their professional monitoring services work the same where you have a professional monitoring station watching over your home 24/7.

Guardian Protection vs Nest Secure vs Link Interactive

Guardian Protection and Nest Secure offer great security systems. We like the colored touchscreen control panels offered by Guardian Protection (here at Link we use the same ones). Guardian has a ton of equipment that you can use with their system, and they have discounted contract based pricing. Nest has a more limited range of equipment, and the upfront cost to ownership is quite high. Because Guardian has a bigger selection of equipment with lower upfront pricing we are choosing them as our overall winner.
