It is a wireless and cellular system which means it works by transmitting your security data through a cellular chip. The Guardian IQ2 Panel has PowerG encryption which adds an extra layer of security when it is transmitting your data. It is powered by an AC power source, but it does include a backup battery just in case your power goes out. The Guardian IQ2 Panel includes a 5 mega-pixel front facing camera that can take snap shots of when your system is being armed and disarmed. The Guardian IQ 2 panel includes Bluetooth disarming which means it will recognize when you are coming and leaving your home, and trigger your system accordingly. The Guardian IQ2 panel really stands out due to its built-in glass break sensor that will trigger your Guardian Protection security system when the sound of break glass is detected. Anytime your Guardian Protection system or devices are trigger the Guardian IQ2 Panel will sound its internal 110-decibel siren. The Guardian IQ2 Panel also includes a Z-Wave protocol that will allow you to expand it so that you can use home automation devices with it.

Alder Control Panel

Alder home security offers a really modern control panel that has all the features you could want built right into the control panel. Alder Home Security control panel is called the Simple Panel. This is a full colored touchscreen control panel that allows you to control your Alder Home Security System with a simple touch of a button. The Simple Panel is a wireless panel which means it connects all your sensors wirelessly. Alder Home Security’s Simple Panel can be wall mounted and placed on a desk top surface which makes it very portable. The Simple Panel has a cellular chip so you do not have to worry about having a landline or internet connection for it to work. It is powered by an AC power source so you will want to make sure you have one nearby. The Simple Panel does include a backup battery just in case your power goes down. It has a 2-way audio feature that allows you to directly communicate with your central monitoring station.

Who wins?

Guardian’s and Alder Home Security’s control panels are quite different from one another. Guardian’s control panel comes in two parts making it harder to damage during a home invasion. Alder Home Security’s control panel has more modern features, a full colored touchscreen, and all of its functions can be controlled right from the touchscreen. Guardian Equipment

Guardian Protection offers all of the basic equipment you could ever need to keep your home totally protected. They offered wireless and battery-operated sensors that have a long battery life. To keep the inside of your home safe Guardian Protection offers door/window, motion, and glass break sensors. All of these sensors are tamper-proof so you don’t have to worry about someone disabling them. They also offer a variety of external sirens including one that has a strobe light so you will be sure to hear when your Guardian Protection’s security system has been triggered. To quickly arm and disarm your system, Guardian protection offers a battery-operated key fob that has a built-in panic button. To keep your home safe from environmental dangers Guardian Protection offers smoke/heat and CO sensors. These sensors have audible alerts that will be triggered if dangerous rises in environmental factors such as heat, smoke, and CO gas are detected. Guardian Protection will send out one of their certified security technicians so you don’t have to worry about setting up the equipment yourself.

Home Automation

Guardian Protection’s Guardian IQ Panel is more than just a security hub, due to its Z-Wave protocol you can use a variety of other branded smart home devices with it. You can purchase some of the smart home automation equipment directly through Guardian Protection. Guardian Protection offers Kwikset smart locks that have an illuminated push-button keypad that you can create custom user codes. You will also be able to control on these locks while go including remotely locking and unlocking. If your home has garage doors you can remotely open and close them using the Linear Garage Door controller that is offered by Guardian Protection. You will also receive push notification anytime your garage doors have been opened or shut. To make your home greener, Guardian Protection offers Alarm.com smart thermostats. These thermostats work for the majority of HVAC heating and cooling systems. You will be able to remotely control your home’s temperature on the go through your Alarm.com Smart Thermostat. This is all the home automation that Guardian Protection is showing via their website, and you would need to call them for a more complete list.

Video Monitoring/Cameras

To provide your home with some video surveillance protection, Guardian Protection offers an indoor, outdoor, and a video doorbell camera. Their cameras are wireless and work by connecting to your home’s WIFI. Guardian Protection’s video cams can capture high quality video clips, have night vision technology, and 2-way audio. Guardian uses Alarm.com for video monitoring. This is the exact same monitoring provider that we use at Link Interactive.

Alder Equipment

Alder Home Security has a variety of basic equipment that will work great with their Simple Panel in keeping your home protected. The first type of basic equipment they have to offer is their door/window sensors. These sensors are wireless and battery-operated. Adler Home Security offers motion sensors that are also wireless and battery-operated. Their motion sensors are meant to be used in the corner of your larger room to help protect the doors and windows in that room. Alder Home Security’s motion sensors can be installed using double-side adhesive tape or with the included wall mounts. Alder Home Security also offers key chain remotes. Alder Home Security’s keychain remotes are battery-operated and will allow you to quickly arm and disarm your system with a simple push of a button. Alder Home Security’s keychain remotes also have a built-in panic button that quickly alerts your monitoring station that an emergency is happening, and that you need immediate assistance. Alder Home Security offers wireless and battery-operated smoke and CO detectors. These detectors will look for irregular smoke or rises in CO gas, and they will make an audible alert if these are detected. The equipment offered by Alder Home Security is DIY so you will need to install all the equipment yourself. Alder Home Security does offer a step by step installation manual which makes installation fast and easy.

Home Automation

Unfortunately, Alder Home Security doesn’t offer any home automation equipment that you can use with their system. You may be able to use other branded home automation equipment with their system, but they do not state this on their website so you will need to contact them to make sure.

Video Monitoring/Cameras

Alder offers a really nice brand of video surveillance cameras. The first Arlo camera that they offer is the Arlo YI indoor camera. This camera is a wireless camera that works by connecting to your home’s WIFI network. It is powered through an AC power source so you want to make sure you have one near by the camera. It has a video resolution of 1080P with 111-degree field of view. It has night vision technology that allows you to see images in the dark. The Arlo Yi also has a 2-way audio feature that will allow to hear and communicate with whomever is around your camera. The Arlo YI has motion sensors that will trigger the camera to start recording along with sending you a push notification letting you know that this event has taken place. The next Arlo camera that Alder Security offer is the Arlo Pro. The Arlo Pro can be used indoors or outdoors. This camera also works by connecting to your home’s WIFI network. The Arlo Pro can be powered through an AC power source or you can use the camera without an AC power source by using its rechargeable battery. You can stream video in HD with the Arlo Pro, and it has advanced night vision that allows you to capture images up to 25 feet at night. It also includes at 2-way audio feature that will allow you to directly communicate with whomever is around the camera. The Arlo Pro also uses motion sensors that will trigger the camera to start recording and also send you an alert that this event has taken place.

Who wins?

Guardian Protection and Alder Home Security have a lot in common when it comes to their basic equipment. They both offered wireless and battery-operated interior sensors. They both offer life safety devices that are also wireless and battery-operated. However, Guardian does have a bit more variety of basic equipment for you to choose from. We are giving Guardian the win for this category due to the fact that they have a bigger selection of basic equipment for you to choose from.

There is a pretty big difference between what Guardian has to offer in add-on equipment and what Alder Home Security has to offer. Alder Home Security doesn’t offer any home automation equipment, but the cameras that they offer are superb and packed full of features. Guardian has a ton of home automation equipment for you to choose from which really lets you personalize your security system to do more than just protect your home. Because Alder Home Security doesn’t offer home automation equipment, we are giving Guardian the win for this category.

Guardian Protection vs Alder Alarm App

Guardian and Alder Home Security offer professional, self, and video monitoring services. Alder Home Security also offers a medical monitoring service which is something Guardian doesn’t offer. Guardian’s and Alder Home Security’s self-monitoring services are done through their apps. Their apps are free to download and work for Apple and Android devices. With their apps you can stream live and recorded video from any connected video surveillance camera, receive push notifications for events, arm and disarm your system remotely, and customize certain features for your connected devices. Alder Home Security’s app however doesn’t have as many features as Guardian’s app. The Guardian app is powered by Alarm.com which means you will have ton more features to use with your system and equipment like Geo-fencing technology. Guardian’s and Alder Home Security’s professional monitoring services work the same, where you have a 24/7 professional monitoring service watching over your home. Guardian is very transparent about their monitoring costs and contracts while Alder Home Security has no easily available information on their monitoring costs or contracts.
