Homeowners around the United States want to make sure that they feel safe in their homes. Unfortunately, many homes across the United States fall victim to home burglaries every year. One of the best course of actions to protect your home from this type of crime is to invest in a home security system. And so today we’ll review ADT and Guardian Protection Services and see how they stack up. Keep reading to find out!

ADT Control Panel

ADT offers two control panels that connect all of your devices to one place. They have a basic panel that doesn’t have a lot of bells and whistles and works by connecting directly to a landline. It is powered through being directly wired into your home’s power source. This basic panel is controlled through the ADT app or the separate push-button keypad.

The other control panel offered by ADT is their digital keypad. Their digital keypad has a full colored touchscreen, and it displays time, temperature, and system status. The panel can be wall mounted or you can place it on a desktop. ADT’s digital keypad allows you to connect up to 250 total devices including 16 cameras, 32 key fobs, 8 touchscreens or alpha keypads, and up to 224 Z-wave devices. You can create up to 99 personal user codes for this system. The panel also gives you the option to include a cellular backup chip. It is powered through an AC power source, and it includes a backup battery just in case the power goes out.

Both of ADT’s panels offer 2-way communication with ADT’s central monitoring station which allows you to quickly take care of any emergency.

Guardian Protection Control Panel

Guardian Protection has a few different control panels to offer you. They offer the Guardian IQ 2 Panel or their Wireless Control Panel. The Guardian IQ 2 Panel has a 7-inch full HD touchscreen. It has a very thin design which allows it be placed practically anywhere. The Guardian IQ 2 Panel is powered through an AC power source, but it does include a backup batter just in case your power goes out. The Guardian IQ 2 Panel works by connecting to your home’s WIFI network wirelessly. It also includes a built-in cellular chip so that if your internet connection is down, the panel will still work. The Guardian IQ 2 Panel also has Bluetooth technology allowing you to use compatible Bluetooth devices with it.

Unlike other control panels the Guardian IQ 2 has a front facing camera that can be set to take a snap shot when your system is being armed and disarmed. You can control all the features and devices for your Guardian Protection security system right from the Guardian IQ 2 Panel’s touchscreen.

The next control panel that Guardian Protection has to offer is their Wireless Touchscreen Control Panel. The Wireless Touchscreen Control Panel has a full colored touchscreen as well. The touchscreen allows you to control your system’s features along the devices connected to it with the simple push of a button. The Wireless Touchscreen Control Panel’s touchscreen displays the time and temperature, is powered by an AC power source and comes with a backup battery. It works just like the Guardian IQ 2 Panel by connecting to your home’s WIFI network, and comes with a cellular backup chip. This panel also has a rapid response feature that allows you to contact emergency services with the push of a button.

Who wins?

ADT and Guardian Protection offer some really great control panels to choose from. We really like that ADT offers a very simplistic basic panel, and we think it is great for consumers who may not be looking for a lot of bells and whistles when it comes to control panels. Guardian Protection however offers more control panels that have a bit more features than that of ADT and are powered by Alarm.com (just like our panels). We especially like the Guardian IQ 2’s front facing camera because it will let you know who is toying around with your system. Due to the fact that Guardian Protection offers superior control panels we are choosing them as the winner for this category.

ADT Equipment

ADT has a lot of basic security equipment that can be used with either of their control panels. ADT also offers both wired and wireless versions of the devices that we are about to go over. Their wireless sensors are battery-operated. ADT offers door/window sensors used to protect the entryways to your home. They will be triggered when the door or windows have been open in which these sensors have been placed.

ADT offers motion sensors that are great at providing protection for large areas of your home. Their motion sensors are triggered when motion is detected in a room in which they are placed. If your home has glass windows, ADT offers glass break sensors to provide protection for the glass windows in your home.

ADT’s glass break sensors listen for the sound of breaking glass, and when this sound is heard they will trigger your system. ADT also offers wired and wireless life safety devices. They offer both smoke and CO2 detectors. Their smoke and CO2 detectors make an audible alert any time smoke rises and CO2 gases have been detected.

ADT’s video surveillance selection is pretty standard when comparted to other security companies that are similar. They offer indoor, outdoor, and doorbell cameras that are all wireless. Their cameras work by connecting wirelessly to your home’s WIFI network. All their cameras have excellent video resolution, and their doorbell camera even includes a 2-way audio feature that allows you to directly communicate with whomever is around your doorbell camera.

Guardian Protection offers a variety of basic sensors that will work great with their control panels. Guardian Protection offers door/window sensors that are battery-operated and wireless. They also offer a very similar sensor called the Smart Sensor. The Smart Sensor is pretty much the same as their door/window sensors with the exception that they are primarily meant to be used with doors. When doors or windows in which a Smart Sensor is placed are opened it will trigger your system.

Guardian Protection also offers motion sensors which are battery-operated and wireless. Their motion sensors have an outstanding range, and they will notify you when motion has been detected in area in which they have been placed.

Who wins?

ADT and Guardian Protection offer similar basic equipment. They both offer door, motion, and glass break sensors. ADT however does offer wired versions of their sensors while Guardian Protection doesn’t have this same option. Guardian Protection does offer a few sensors that ADT doesn’t offer like their Smart Sensor. Because Guardian Protection has a bigger selection of basic equipment than ADT, we are giving them the win for this category.

ADT and Guardian protection offer a great variety of add-on equipment for you to really expand your security system as well. We love that ADT offers Kwikset locks due to the fact that they are made from high-quality material and are easy to use. We really like the fact that Guardian Protection offers image sensors which something ADT doesn’t have. Guardian Protection also uses Alarm.com (just like our amazing Qolsys home security system) which means you have more control and features you can use with your home automation, security, and video surveillance devices. For these reasons we are choosing Guardian Protection as our winner for this category.

Guardian Protection vs ADT App

ADT and Guardian Protection offer self, professional, and video monitoring services. ADT’s and Guardian Protection’s video and self-monitoring services are done through their apps which are free to download and work for Apple and Android devices. With their apps you will receive push notifications any time any of your devices are triggered. You can stream live and recorded video through their apps as well.

Their apps differ when it comes to customization and features. The ADT app is bit more limited with features than Guardian Protection’s app. Guardian Protection’s app is powered by Alarm.com. What this means is that you will be able to go into detailed customization for all your devices, and use services like Geo-fencing.

ADT’s and Guardian Protection’s professional monitoring services work the same way, but Guardian Protections monitoring service’s month to month cost tend to be a bit cheaper than ADT.
