Protect Your Home Review: An ADT Home Security Dealer

There are several home security companies on the market, and today we will be looking at Protect Your Home, a popular ADT home security dealer.

Before we start to go over Protect Your Home’s security products, we would like to give our readers some background information about them. Protect Your Home is the largest dealer of ADT monitored products. They do not make their equipment but they do offer a wide variety of ADT security equipment.

Equipment

Protect Your Home offers a nice variety of security equipment that will keep your home secure. They offer a few different control panels that you can use to control your security equipment.

ADT Home Security Panel

The ADT Home Security Panel is a wireless push button control panel. It works by connecting to your home’s WIFI network, but it also includes a cellular chip just in case your internet goes down. It can support up to 64 wireless devices along with 16 wireless keys. It has a 2-way audio feature that allows you to directly communicate with your central monitoring station. The ADT Home Security Panel allows you to create up to 17 user codes so you never have to worry about your main security code being compromised.

Monitored Digital Touchpad Control Panel

The next control panel that is offered by the Protect Your Home is the ADT Monitored Digital Touchpad. The ADT Monitored Digital Touchpad has a 4.3-inch full colored touchscreen. This control panel also works by connecting to your home’s WIFI network, and it is powered by an AC power source so you want to make sure you have one nearby. If for some reason your power goes out the ADT Monitored Digital Touchpad has a 24-hour backup battery. You can quickly arm and disarm your system from the home screen of this control panel along with controlling, adding, and customizing your devices that you have connect to it.

Door/window sensor

Now that we have gone over the control panels that are offered by Protect Your home let us now take a look at what intrusion sensors they have to offer. Protect Your Home offers door/window sensors. These door/window sensors are wireless and battery operated. They work by placing them on a door or window frame that you want protection for, and when your system is armed and a window or door that you have a sensor on is opened it will trigger a security event.

Motion sensor

Protect your home also offers motion sensors. Their motion sensors are wireless and battery operated. You generally want to place a motion sensor in a large room that you want protected. When motion is detected by a motion sensor it will trigger a security event.

Glass break sensor

Protect America’s glass break sensor will detect the sound and thud of breaking glass. The typical range for a glass break sensor is 20 ft. all around, which means the glass break sensor will be able to detect breakage on any window within a 20 ft. radius.

Smoke/heat sensor

If you are looking for life safety devices Protect Your Home has those as well. Protect Your Home offers heat sensing smoke detectors. Their heat sensing smoke detectors are wireless and battery operated. They can easily detect smoke and rises in heat, and when these are detected the heat sensing smoke detector will produce an 85-decibel audible alarm.

Carbon monoxide sensor (CO2)

Protect Your Home also offers CO2 detectors that are wireless and battery operated. Their CO2 detectors will detect any rise of CO2 gases in your home, and when this is detected an 85-decible alarm will sound.

Flood sensor

If you live in a flood prone area or are worried about water damage caused by leaks you can purchase a flood sensor from Protect Your Home. Their flood sensors are batter operated and wireless. Their flood sensors can easily detect leaks or any rise in water in the area in which they are placed, and they will trigger an event when water is detected.

External siren

Protect Your home also offers a high decibel external siren. Their high decibel external sirens are wireless and battery operated. They can produce an 85-decibel audible alarm any time your system has been triggered. Protect Your Home also offers wireless keychain remotes and panic buttons.

Keyfob

Their wireless keychain remote has a 4-button push button design. You can arm and disarm your system with a quick and easy push of a button with your keychain remote. Protect Your Home’s panic button is small wireless device that has a single push button which will immediately trigger a response from your central monitoring station.

Our take: As you can see from the information listed above Protect Your Home has a large variety of basic security equipment. We really like the variety of life safety devices they offer, and they do offer more than most other companies that are similar to them. Their intrusion sensors are pretty average when compared to other security companies.

Home Automation

One really great thing about using Protect Your Home as your security provider is that they give you the ability to use smart home devices with your security system. Protect Your Home does not have a lot of home automation equipment that they directly offer, but you can find out what home automation devices will work with their system.

The only thing Protect Your Home sells in home automation equipment are smart locks. Their smart locks have a nice modern design that will fit the style of any home, and they work by connecting directly to your home’s WIFI network. They have a push-button design that allows you to quickly lock and unlock your doors with a push of a button. You can customize different user codes so that you can give and take away access at any time. Protect Your Home’s smart locks can be controlled remotely on the go through the ADT Pulse app.

Our take: When it comes to the actual home automation equipment offered by Protect Your Home, you are a bit limited. However, we do like the smart lock that they offer, and its style. We also like the fact that it can be remotely controlled on the go. We do wish that they offered more home automation devices than they currently have.

Video cameras/surveillance

Protect Your Home has a bit more variety when it comes to their video surveillance equipment. They offer indoor and outdoor as well as doorbell cameras.

Indoor camera

Protect Your Home offers a nice indoor camera. The indoor camera they offer is wireless and works by connecting to your home’s WIFI network. This camera will automatically adjust to the lighting when it captures video so that you can get clear video clips. The indoor camera offered by Protect Your Home has six infrared LED’s that allow you to capture images even when there is no light. It has motion sensors that will trigger it to start to record. Any time this indoor camera starts to record you will be sent an instant notification through the ADT Pulse app.

Outdoor camera

Protect Your Home also offers an outdoor camera. The Outdoor Camera offered by Protect Your Home is also wireless and works by connecting to your home’s WIFI network. The features for the outdoor camera offered by Protect Your Home are the same as the indoor camera offered by them with the exception that the outdoor camera is made from weather-proof material.

Doorbell camera

The last type of camera that is offered by Protect Your Home is a video doorbell camera. The video doorbell camera that is offered by Protect Your Home is packed full of features. It has an elongated design, and is made from weather resistant IP65 material. It works by connecting directly to your home’s WIFI network and is powered by the existing wiring for your doorbell. It has a video resolution of 720P with a 180-degree field of view. It also has night vision technology that allows you to capture images in the dark. It has a 2-way audio feature that allows you to directly communicate and hear whomever is around your camera. It also uses motion sensors that will trigger it to start recording, and you will be sent a push notification to your smartphone when it starts to record or senses motion. The video doorbell uses a 64 MB flash drive for storage.

Our Take: Protect Your Home’s offers a nice variety of video surveillance equipment. We like the video doorbell camera they offer due to the number of features it has. We also like the fact that Protect Your Home offers both an indoor and an outdoor camera allowing for a little more personalization with your security system.
