Amazon Cloud Cam Indoor Security Camera: An Expert Review

Indoor security cameras have become extremely popular with home and business owners. Today we will be taking a look at one of these indoor cameras called the Amazon Cloud Cam.

We are sure you have heard or probably even frequently used Amazon, but we always think it is a good idea to give our readers some background information about the companies they do business with. Amazon was founded in 1994 by Jeff Bezos as an online marketplace where consumers like yourself could get a variety of different items. Today Amazon is one of the largest online market places in the world, and in recent years they have started producing their own branded devices such as Amazon’s Alexa. The Amazon Cloud Cam is another such example.

The Amazon Cloud Cam has a lot of features that consumers nowadays look for in a camera, and Amazon also offers a variety of monitoring plans that are meant to fit your budget and your video surveillance needs. So now let’s go over the Amazon Cloud Cam in detail.

Features

The Amazon Cloud Cam is an indoor camera that is packed full of features. It has a compact, cylindrical type design, and it can easily be placed in a variety of places. It is powered through an AC power source so you want to make sure you have one nearby. But other than that, the camera is wireless, which means it works by connecting to your home’s WIFI network.

The Amazon Cloud Cam has video resolution of 1080P with a 120-degree diagonal field of view. It uses LED lights for its infrared night vision technology which automatically activates when it gets dark. The Amazon Cloud Cam’s night vision doesn’t just spotlight one area, it instead allows you to capture images in the dark in the camera’s entire field of view. The camera’s night vision can also be turned off and on at any time.

The Amazon Cloud Cam also has a speaker with an omni-directional microphone with 2-way audio. With the Amazon Cloud Cam’s 2-way audio feature you will not only be able to hear whatever is going on around your camera, but you will also be able to communicate with whomever is in front of it. Video recordings are triggered by the Amazon Cloud Cam’s motion detectors. You can customize your motion alerts to only be triggered by the things you want your camera to be triggered by.

Another really great feature of this camera is that it works with Amazon’s Alexa. With Amazon’s Alexa you can use voice commands to control and use the features of the Amazon Cloud Cam. Other cameras on the market have this capability as well. For instance, our indoor security camera at Link Interactive can be integrated with Amazon Alexa as well. Check out our indoor camera here.

The Amazon Cloud Cam is a DIY (do-it-yourself) type of camera so you will need to set it up yourself - a step by step guide is included to help you out. You can purchase an Amazon Cloud Cam from Amazon for $119.99.

Amazon Cloud Cam vs Alarm.com Video

Now that we have covered the features, pricing, and video monitoring services for the Amazon Cloud Cam, let us give you our take on it.

Amazon Cloud Cam

The features for the Amazon Cloud Cam are pretty standard when it comes to other branded indoor cameras. We really like its small design and easy set up. The pricing is about average for this camera compared to other video surveillance cameras that are similar. We also really like the 2-way audio feature, and the fact that the Amazon Cloud Cam allows you to tun on/off its night vision. The one thing we did not like is the fees associated for their video monitoring services. Compared to other companies that provide video monitoring services, Amazon tends to be on the higher side when it comes to pricing month to month. Also, the fees only include video monitoring services and no way to incorporate total home security.

Alarm.com Video

If you want to incorporate total home security into your video surveillance plan, then look no further than Link Interactive’s Alarm.com video monitoring plans. With our video monitoring plans powered by Alarm.com you get the latest in not only video monitoring services, but home security and home automation services as well.

In addition, with Alarm.com you are able to connect all of these different types of devices with one another and control them all as one single cohesive smart home unit from a single app. Not only that, but at Link Interactive we are able to provide you almost any kind of video monitoring you desire.
